I'm a coral biologist, immunologist and ecologist and combine these three disciplines to study how corals survive.
I am testing the hypothesis that coral immunity underpins coral health and determines survival through extreme events. Coral immunology is a fundamental aspect of coral biology, and one we know relatively little about. We need to know a lot more if we are to conserve coral reefs through climate change.
I am the Principal Investigator of 'Seeking Survivors', an immunology-based Coral conservation project based in Costa Rica, I am investigating how coral immunity promotes tolerance to perturbations and empowering local people to conserve their biodiversity.
I am an advocate for Women in Science, and other under represented groups.
